Sitting above Porthmeor Beach is the elegant Tate St Ives gallery, which opened in 1993 and offers a programme of changing exhibitions. Renowned sculptress Barbara Hepworth also lived and worked in St Ives and a Museum and Garden dedicated to her work is open during the summer and autumn months.

For centuries the harbour has been the focal point of the town and still today acts like a magnet to both locals and holiday visitors.
