Used as a stronghold until the early 17th century, it was granted to Sir Fulke Greville by James I in 1604. Greville converted it to a country house and the Greville’s became Earls of Warwick in 1759. Extending seamlessly from Leamington Spa, Warwick offers a slightly slower pace of life. However there is still plenty to attract newcomers with beautiful parks, many desirable homes and plenty of diversions from Warwickshire’s own Symphony Orchestra to its annual Folk Festival, now in its 38th year. Centred around its market square are many independent shops, bars and restaurants with St Nicholas park just a short walk away offering boating, Crazy Golf, Putting, a mini fairground, Leisure Centre and an outdoor paddling pool, always popular with young families on warm summer days.
